THE VIRGIL STURGEON - CREATING “SLIDING SIDEWAYS”

Here is a live acoustic performance by Virgil, as they develop and search for ideas on a new track called “sliding sideways” - This was recorded at Gab’s studio in the Bastille, Paris, with Gabbo on cello, Si on acoustic guitar and Dan singing. You’ll also see Dan writing lyrics for the track live in the studio - the main verse and chorus for the track were written on the move; by Dan in an airport in Florida and by Si on a train into London. Check out the video to see the creative process and also a little taster of the finished track right at the end. More to come…

THE VIRGIL STURGEON PERFORM LIVE IN THE CARIBBEAN

The Virgil Sturgeon’s Daniel Jackson has just performed at a beach concert at St Barthélemy, in the Caribbean, a perfect venue for a group named after a Sturgeon fish…The event organiser’s budget couldn’t stretch to fly the other band members Simon and Gabriel over from Europe, so Dan sang with a DJ playing instrumentals from the Catch and Release EP. We might have some video footage from the gig coming soon - To buy the catch and release EP on CD or download on mp3, just visit our shop page.

Jennifer Ward has painted the Treehouse CD sleeve! The music has been recorded in a studio out in the countryside and her illustration reflects this. The CD will be available in the Woodshed shop in the not too distant future.

PANTHER CD COVER PAINTED BY JENNIFER WARD

Jennifer Ward has just finished painting the P for Panther CD cover for their debut release “cubism”. She has created a dark moody piece reminiscent of the haunting music created by the group. The back cover features the Parisian apartment where the artists recorded the majority of their first EP but with a twist; they’ve fallen through a hole in the floor and can been seen as traditional puppets with their strings cut, below in a dark basement. P for Panther’s cubism EP is currently being printed and shrink wrapped and will be for sale via the woodshed shop in the near future.

MICHEL GONDRY - PEAU D’ÂNE SUÉDÉ

P for Panther have just composed music to a short film Directed by Marilou Chabert, François Goupil and Anna Mimouni. The short was entered into a competition organised by Michel Gondry. There were around 2,500 enteries and sadly the film didn’t win. However it has been entered into the Montreal Film Festival.
